MAXX Announces Leadership Changes

HARRISON, NY – October 31, 2016 – MAXX Properties announced today the promotion of CEO, Eric Wiener to Vice Chairman and the appointment of Edward F. Lange, Jr. to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Wiener, 47, has been working for MAXX since 1992, when he co-founded Wiener West Group, Inc. in Denver, Colorado, a division of what eventually became MAXX Properties in 2005. During his 25-year tenure in the multifamily industry, Mr. Wiener has worked his way up from the front lines as a leasing agent and maintenance technician to become Vice Chairman. In addition, Mr. Wiener is a member of the MAXX Board of Advisors.

Mr. Wiener attended Brandeis University and the University of Colorado at Boulder from which he graduated in 1991, with a BA in Business and Political Science. He holds a Colorado Real Estate Employing Broker License, is on the Board of National Eco Wholesale (NEW), Inc., is on the Board of Cyclists for Community (C4C) in Boulder, CO. and is a member of the Young President Organization (YPO).

In his new role, Mr. Wiener will work with Ed Lange and his brothers David Wiener and Andrew Wiener to determine the strategic direction of the company.

Mr. Lange, 57, joined MAXX as the company’s CEO, effective October 19, 2016. He brings more than 30 years of management, real estate and financial expertise to MAXX. “Ed joins us bringing a wealth of leadership and capital markets expertise to MAXX, including deep knowledge of the multifamily industry,” commented Robert Wiener. “His talents complement our team and will help set our strategic path and fuel our growth.”

During the past several years, Mr. Lange has served in leading executive roles with real estate intensive enterprises owned by private equity firms; engagements that supported a wide range of strategic objectives including initial public offerings, recapitalizations, and growth initiatives.

For the period 2000 through 2010, Mr. Lange was a member of the executive management team at BRE Properties, Inc. (NYSE:BRE), a multifamily REIT that owned approximately 22,000 units. He joined BRE as CFO, and was later promoted to COO and elected to the Board of Directors. Prior to joining BRE, he was the CFO at Health Care REIT, Inc. (NYSE:HCN). Before that, he served on the executive management team at The Mediplex Group, Inc., a publicly-held owner/operator of senior housing communities and other health care assets.

Mr. Lange previously served as an independent director with two NYSE companies: American Assets Trusts, Inc. and STAG Industrial, Inc. Mr. Lange is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning; and earned his MBA from the University of Connecticut.
